Sì, è uno statere di Metaponto. In genere queste monete riportano sul lato sinistro della spiga d'orzo un simbolo: prova a vedere se riesci a distinguerlo sulla tua moneta.

The Prospero Collection of Ancient Greek Coins. ITALY. Lucania, Metapontum (c.330-290 B.C.), Silver Stater, 7.86g,. Head of Demeter facing to left, wearing a wreath of grain ears, an earring and a necklace. Rev. MET[A], ear of barley, a leaf on right with griffin above, ΛY below (Johnston, Class C6.15 (this obverse die); SNG ANS 489; HN Italy 1589). Lightly toned, nearly extremely fine. Metapontum was another of the wealthy Greek colonies in Magna Graecia. Throughout the extensive series of staters that Metapontum issued, the ear of barley, to which the city-state owed its wealth, features prominently. Perhaps of most interest however, is the head of Demeter, the goddess of corn, which usually appears on the obverse of the staters. The head of Demeter is consistently represented as a young woman, often engraved in exquisite beauty to a very high degree of artistry. Considering the range of different styles in which Demeter manifests herself, it is tempting to think that the artists responsible might have taken their inspiration from real life. The Prospero Collection includes a very attractive and select group of staters from Metapontum. US$ 700

ti rispondo mostrandoti quest'altro esemplare (molto vicino al tuo per conservazione) che è stato venduto nel 2009 a 140 dollari: questo mi sembra il massimo ricavabile dalla tua moneta.

Il periodo è più o meno il 340-290 a.C. Un testo sulla monetazione di Metaponto (in inglese purtroppo) è The Coinage of Metapontum di Sydney P. Noe, republished by the ANS, with revisions in 1984, is a die study of 365 die combinations with commentary.
