Ciao!

Vorrei sapere gentilmente se si tratta, come credo, di una moneta molto comune. Quello che so è che è attribuibile a Costantino, zecca di Costantinopoli e che mi è costata 10 Euro, ormai un paio di anni fa.

Dalla mia vaga descrizione sembrerebbe che acquisti monete a caso ma questo è stato il mio primo esemplare e al tempo ero guidato più dall'entusiasmo che dalla razionalità. Per fortuna, mi sono focalizzato presto su ciò che mi piace di più. :)

La tua bella moneta dovrebbe essere RIC VII Rome 232 anche se il referimento preciso e difficile da fornire perche sul RIc sono indicate con riferimenti diversi monete che sono praticmanete uguali....ti aggiungo una nota tratta dalle tavole di Helvetica:

RIC VII Rome 232-244 "Some coins here are identical. RIC splits coins into three separate groups. Why the one is rare and another - identical coin - is common is not explained which is very very annoying. Decorated wreaths are those with stars, dots etc. in the centre top badge of the wreath. The only explanation found in RIC is: ""To follow the successive stages of the striking of this issue is impossible. (the three stages being a) emperors only, B) addition of VOT X of Constantine's sons and c) abolition of Licinius reverses). This implies that some of the coins of Constantine struck in officina P with undecorated rev. wreaths may have been struck at the same time as the VOT V of the Caesars, or during the last issue of the VOT X issue or during the very last period of the RP mark when the decorations disappear.

So there is no way of telling these three ""phases"" apart and no information at all as to why the author thinks one is common and another is rare when the coins are identical. "

Effettivamente mi pare che il RIC metta un po' di confusione (almeno in questo caso). Ad ogni modo grazie mille per i suggerimenti: approfondirò la questione.
