Buongiorno ragazzi,

faccio questo breve blitz tra le monete romane per chiedervi un aiuto nel catalogare correttamente questo denario di Septimius Severus.

Non sono molto pratico con le romane, il mio tentativo di catalogazione è questo:

Nominale: Denarius

Zecca: Roma

Anno di emissione: 202-210

Metallo: Argento

Peso: 3,1 g

Diametro: 1,7 cm

Descrizione Dritto: L SEPT SEV PERT (AVG IMP VIII), busto dell'imperatore stante a destra

Descrizione Verso: ADVENTVI AVG FELICISSIMO, imperatore a cavallo con mano alzata.

hai catalogato bene questo bel denario tranne per la data di emissione che è compresa tra il 196 e il 197 d.C.

Tutto corretto, ti aggiungo una spiegazione (da Wildwinds, quindi in inglese) sul significato della moneta:

"This piece was minted in 196 AD, during the reign of Septimius Severus, who ruled from 193-211 AD. Septimius Severus was one of three provincial governors who answered the call of an outrage public to oust the shamefully elected Didius Julianus, who

literally had bought the throne in an auction. He was first to arrive in Rome, and easily dispensed with the deserted Julianus, who was beheaded in his palace. He then dealt with the forces of the other two governors, and became master of the Roman world.

This type depicts the laureate head of Septimius Severus facing right, with legends L.SEPT.SEV.PERT.AVG.IMP.VIII. The reverse

type features Severus in military dress on horse pacing right raising right hand. The legends for the type read ADVENTVI.AVG.FELICISSIMO. This type comemmorates the return of Severus to Rome following his victory over Pescennius Niger."
