Corona Britannica 1953 "Incoronazione"

Questa corona britannica 1953 "Incoronazione" è stato seduto sulla mia scrivania per un paio di settimane (è stato acquistato da un junkbox per US$ 0,17 ed io non abbiamo capito cosa fare con esso).

Ma che posto qui nella speranza sincera che il significato non cambia in pochi giorni tempo, e che la tradizione che ha iniziato con queste monete nel 1937...

Non finire su giovedì 18 settembre 2014 e quindi richiedono la modifica di questo disegno d'inverso di 46 anni:

This 1953 British “Coronation” crown has been sitting on my desk for a few weeks (it was purchased from a junkbox for US$0.17 and I haven’t figured out what to do with it).

But I post it here in the sincere hope that its meaning doesn’t change in a few days time, and that the tradition that started with these coins in 1937…

Doesn’t end on Thursday, 18 September 2014, and then require the changing of this 46-year-old reverse design:

Belle monete che raffigurano al R/ il cardo fiorito di porpora, simbolo della Scozia.

Alla pianta è dedicato anche l'Antichissimo e Nobilissimo Ordine del Cardo, equivalente a quello della Giarrettiera in Inghilterra (The Most Ancient and Most Noble Order of the Thistle).

Non ci resta che attendere il referendum e le eventuali conseguenze in campo numismatico.

Un vero affare, anzi un doppio affare, considerato che queste monete sono ancora spendibili nel Regno Unito per un controvalore di 25 "nuovi" pence!

Una nota circa lo scellino 1937 con la retromarcia scozzese. Quando stavo fotografando e ho notato il punto dopo la data (1937.). Secondo le autorità è lì per "equilibrio", ma ero curioso di vedere che 1937 inglese inversa scellino seduta accanto ad essa non era il punto dopo la data (1937). Hmm. L'incoerenza è... sconcertante.

Ma devo dire che mi dispiace vedere questo thread spostato nella sezione "Monete estere". Pubblicando in Piazzetta speravo di posare il predicato per una discussione di tutto il Forum del modo monete o conservare—o non mantengono—loro significato nel tempo.

Da una prospettiva più ristretta, tuttavia, la reale possibilità di sottrarre la Scozia dal Regno Unito—e dalla monetazione britannica—sembra abbastanza incredibile per me. (E di Elisabetta ottica, riceverei supponendo, molto traumatico. Abbastanza così, ho pensato, a distruggere la sua salute, e alla fine il Regno il cui inizio è simboleggiato da questa ’53 corona.)

One note about the 1937 shilling with the Scottish reverse. When I was photographing it I noticed the dot after the date (1937.). According to the authorities it’s there for “balance,” but I was curious to see the 1937 English reverse shilling sitting next to it had no dot after its date (1937). Hmm. The inconsistency is…puzzling.

But I do have to say that I’m sorry to see this thread moved to the “Foreign Coins” section. By posting it in the Piazzetta I was hoping to lay the predicate for a Forum-wide discussion of the way coins either retain—or do not retain—their meaning over time.

From a narrower perspective, however, the real possibility of subtracting Scotland from the UK—and from British coinage—seems quite unbelievable to me. (And from Elizabeth’s point of view, I’m comfortable supposing, very traumatic. Enough so, I’ve been thinking, to destroy her health, and end the reign whose beginning is symbolized by this ’53 crown.)
