Le ruote del carro

[VALTERI]

Due dodecadrammi arcaici , piuttosto rari , dei Derrones , il primo in alta conservazione con tondello inusualmente largo tale da raccogliere l'intera impronta del conio .

Ai diritti il consueto , emblematico carro con tiro di buoi : consueta , qui , anche la struttura delle ruote , un raggio principale  centrale ad intero diametro e passante per il mozzo , con 2 raggi secondari traversi a questo .

In area Siceliota  , spesso sono raffigurati carri con tiri di cavalli o mule : questi carri pressoché sempre hanno le più classiche ruote con 4 raggi ortogonali passanti per il mozzo .

In epoca più recente ( forse ) di circa un paio di secoli , in area centro italica non meglio definibile , gli Etruschi hanno prodotto le monete della serie fusa  cosiddetta " con ruota arcaica " ed il secondo tipo di questa ruota ( F. Catalli , monete etrusche 1998 ) , ha struttura pressoché equivalente alle ruote dei carri dei  Derrones .

Una curiosità a margine : il secondo esemplare dei Derrones ,  nel campo del diritto , invece del più consueto elmo , propone un simbolo piuttosto particolare che il compilatore del catalogo CNG definisce " ...wheel or open flower ( ? ) above ox..."
