Questa moneta fa parte di una rarissima emissione coniata per il re Ma'nu di Osrhoene nella città di Edessa, da cui, nel 163, fu cacciato dal partico Vologases III e sostituito da un certo Waël. Poco dopo, grazie all'esercito di Lucio Vero, sotto il comando di Avidio Cassio, Ma'nu fu restituito a Osrhoene e, in onore dell'evento, nel 167-169 circa, produsse monete con il ritratto di Vero sul dritto e i suoi titoli, in greco, sul rovescio. Circa sei anni dopo, in seguito alla falsa notizia della morte di Marco Aurelio, Avidio Cassio si proclamò imperatore, ma l'usurpazione durò solo poco più di tre mesi prima che Cassio venisse assassinato. Sua figlia Avidia Cassia Alessandra ebbe un figlio e tre figlie, una delle quali, Claudia Vettia Agrippina, sposò l'affascinante Tiberio Claudio Temistocle Maratonio!

Bronzo della Koinon di Macedonia, zecca di Beroea, tempo di Alessandro Severo, che raffigura al dritto la testa di Alessandro Magno con copricapo in pelle di leone, e al rovescio Alessandro, nudo fino alla vita, seduto a destra su un basso trono che termina con zampe di leone, che appoggia la mano destra sul trono e tiene la sinistra in grembo; davanti a lui, a destra, la Nike in piedi di fronte, con la testa rivolta a sinistra, che porge al re un elmo attico crestato nella mano destra e appoggia la sinistra su uno scudo appoggiato a terra; il capo dello scudo è decorato con Achille che uccide Pentesilea (Leu Numismatik, Auction 10, lot 2268, 24.10.2021).

La bella scena del rovescio raffigurata su questa moneta deriva direttamente da uno dei famosi medaglioni di Aboukir (Berlino 18200021 = Dahmen pl. 27.7), che molto probabilmente proveniva anch'esso dalla Koinon macedone. Vediamo Alessandro, il più grande di tutti i macedoni, in posizione rilassata seduto a destra su un trono di leoni (senza dubbio un'allusione alla proclamata discendenza degli Argeadi da Eracle), mentre riceve da Nike un'armatura riccamente decorata per prepararsi alla conquista del mondo.
