Tetradrachm circa 403-365 BC. Head of Athena right, frontal eye with pupil, wearing earring, necklace with pendants and crested Attic helmet decorated with two olive leaves over visor and spiral palmette with one olive leaf on the bowl / Owl standing right, head facing; olive sprig and crescent to left, all within incuse square. 16,97g. 25,1mm. Nanteuil 921 (same dies) = Pozzi 1580 (same dies) described as an imitation of uncertain area.

An interesting coin. Extremely rare. About extremely fine.

This coin is possibly a remarkable imitation of the Athenian mass coinage, produced by various cities and ancient States as trade currency—from the Danube to the Hindu Kush. While most of these imitations were poorly struck, with crude legends and styles, this specimen stands out for its exceptional craftsmanship and sharply rendered details.

 

scrivono che è di atene ma che può essere anche un'imitazione antica.

gli occhi hanno le pupille, che nelle monete di atene di questo periodo non sono presenti.

le crepe sul bordo a m sembrano un po' inusulali e mi chiedo se non potrebbe essere un falso moderno.

Salve,il bordo troppo definito,la patina e l'aspetto in generale danno da pensare,sempre da foto.penso che avranno degli esperti per giudicarla
