con il Queen Consort sul relativo inverso, l'ex principessa Alexandra della Danimarca.

Di età di Edwardian… presto autunno in Europa, dopo estate lunga dell'età di Victorian.

Questa medaglia d'argento consumata dagli assomigli di giubileo del diamante della Victoria esso potrebbe essere la tasca-parte di qualcuno che ha osservato di nuovo ad un momento prima di Edward VII, ai giorni della sua madre.

This worn silver medal from Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee looks like it might have been the pocket-piece of someone who looked back to a time before Edward VII, to the days of his mother.

La medaglia della regina Vittoria è davvero impietosa nel confronto tra la deliziosa testa giovanile e l'austero ritratto vedovile. Donna temeraria! Quanto a quella dell'incoronazione di Edoardo VII mi ha ricordato un fatto curioso. All'epoca in Francia fu prodotta una "falsa attualità" dello storico evento della monarchia inglese. Regista ne era il leggendario autore dei film di trucchi Georges Melies. La falsa attualità doveva tuttavia ad ogni costo apparire vera agli occhi degli spettatori. Non sono mai riuscito a reperire il rarissimo filmato, e mi viene da pensare che sia andato perduto (destino comune a molte pellicole del cinema primitivo). Nessuno ne ha mai sentito parlare o ha avuto la fortuna di vederlo?

The Victorian medal looks pretty mercyless in comparing the cute youthful portait of the Queen to that one with the widow "shroud" on her head. Such a brave woman! While incidentially, the King Edward's Coronation medal reminded me of a singular occurrence. In those days, back in 1902, a short newsreel was released in France depicting a fake King Edward's coronation in order to make it look real to the french audiences. The film was shot by the genial tricky film pioneer Georges Melies. I never had the priviledge to watch this short movie and I guess it's lost for ever, such as many early films. Have you ever heard of it or had the occasion to watch a copy of that film?
