ahala Inviato 2 Maggio, 2013 #1 Inviato 2 Maggio, 2013 (modificato) The coin in this picture is interesting. It was missing from the RBW catalogue. Although lot 914 of NAC61 is described as this coin, it's not what was pictured. However as it has the same weight (22.20 grams this coin, 22.24 grams the RBW coin described but not pictured) it must be the same coin. So I must assume this is the RBW coin, it replaced the pictured NAC61,914, and now is sold without its provenance which is a pity. NAC61,914 says "Bahrfeldt, NZ 1897, p. 13. Sydenham 396b. Crawford p. 550,59 (both specimens known to him reported as false). Of the highest rarity, apparently only the third specimen known. Ex CNG sale 55, 2000, 1018. Crawford, p. 550. *59, condemns the two known specimens of this type (Rome, Capitol 2103 and Paris, A 12227) as altered in modern times, but this example appears unaltered and original. (RBW) The style and weight are correct for the issue, and indeed it is unaltered. Andrew Modificato 2 Maggio, 2013 da ahala 1 Cita

ahala Inviato 2 Maggio, 2013 Autore #6 Inviato 2 Maggio, 2013 (modificato) Thanks! So it is a different coin. The weight is a coincidence. Here is NAC61,914. Same dies, same weight, different coin. Andrew Modificato 2 Maggio, 2013 da ahala Cita
L. Licinio Lucullo Inviato 2 Maggio, 2013 #7 Inviato 2 Maggio, 2013 Since it is so rare, maybe they made only one couple of dies... Is it possible? If it is genuine, do you think it tenders to RRC 215 or not? Wher did you find the picture of "your" coin? Cita
ahala Inviato 2 Maggio, 2013 Autore #8 Inviato 2 Maggio, 2013 (modificato) It is the correct style for RRC 215. So it is not an imitation. Yes, it seems that there is only one die pair. These are the only two coins we can look at, because the other two are in Rome, Capitol 2103 and Paris, A 12227, and no photo is available. The new coin is for sale on vcoins. If it was a silver denarius of such great rarity, someone would buy it in 2 minutes. But a Republican bronze ... it might be there for a long time. Modificato 2 Maggio, 2013 da ahala Cita
