Segnalo che è uscito un bel volume, che costituisce il Corpus sulla monetazione dell'imperatore Massenzio (306-312 d.C.).

A mio giudizio può costituire un buon esempio su come deve essere studiata e analizzata la monetazione di un imperatore romano.

Maxentius ruled over Italy and Africa for 6 years, between 306 and 312 AD.

His coinage, which is particularly copious and spectacular, constitutes the most tangible

record of his poorly known rule, which was obscured by Constantinian propaganda.

This detailed and exhaustive french publication is the first synthesis of the coinage of Maxentius.

The study goes beyond a purely numismatic framework in order to extract the maximum amount

of historical information.

In a large cloth bound A4 format, this comprehensive 432-page publication contains:

- 61 plates black/white illustrating over 1200 coins, including all known gold and silver coins and

all bronze coin types.

- A catalogue of 400 coin types, classified by mint, metal, and issue, with a description of coin types

and an indication of rarity.

- A CD-Rom with an inventory and pedigree of the 5000 coins of Maxentius that were studied for

this publication.

- 250 pages of commentary with 78 tables, 39 drawings and schematics, as well as 7 graphs and 2 maps.

- A detailed summary in English, German, and Italian (more than 15 pp. each).

Bastava leggere la locandina a colori allegata nel mio post # 1 (che si può anche scaricare): costa 120 euro + spese postali e finora sembra reperibile solo presso Jacquier. Nella locandina ci sono gli indirizzi email per ordinare.
