Apollo era il dio protettore della Lycia, almeno dalla Lega in poi (170 ac.) Ci sono  centinaia di ritratti diversi sulle monete. Basta guardare su acseach "Lycian League" (o Lykischer Bund). 

Qualche leggera somiglianza c'è ma non di più.

Io non mi riferivo tanto alla somiglianza tra l'Apollo sulla moneta e la statua, ma volevo stuzzicarti a proposito del rapporto in generale tra Apollo e la lega licia, sul motivo per cui veniva raffigurato sulle monete proprio Apollo. Sicuramente ciò era dovuto alla grande devozione che c'era in Licia per Latona e per i figli Apollo e Artemide... Famoso era poi l'oracolo di Apollo di Patara..

Il tempio di Letoon dedicato a Leto (per i romani Latona), madre di Artemide e Apollo, si trovava poco distante da Xanthos. E dunque dal culto di Latona che deriva il culto di Apollo, ma anche quello secondario di Artemide. Quando cessano le coniazioni argentee (con Apollo) sui bronzetti si trova Artemide.

Altra figura curiosa è Kakasbos, dio incaricato di proteggere dai pericoli della vita contadina ( cinghiali e altri predatori). E' raffigurato a cavallo con una mazza, arma adatta alla bisogna.

historical interest. Metal somewhat porous, otherwise very fine / good very fine

This excessively rare didrachm, known but for a few specimens, totally differs from the Neapolitan coinage we are wont to. It is very unlike the usual type both for the head of Apollo on the obverse and, above all, for the Samnite horseman on the reverse; in fact it is the only Neapolitan didrachm not showing the customary man-headed bull. We humbly dare to propound an original theory that, even though deserving full corroboration, is plausible both from the historical and strictly numismatic point of view. A. Sambon identifies the rider as "the Tarentine horseman", dating the coin 340 BC as a memento of an alliance between Naples and Tarentum. Our theory does not undermine Sambon’s one as for the dating, on the contrary it is almost coincident as we propose 345-340 BC; but it differs for the interpretation of the reverse.We attach great importance to the detail of the horseman’s headgear, in which we think to recognise the typical Samnite helmet. Based on this evidence we propose the idea that follows. At that time in Naples two political parties were in conflict, one supporting independence and a sympathy for the Samnites and the other Campanian populations in conflict with Roma, and the other in favour of a closer tie with the powerful neighbour. In our opinion, this coin was struck, with its unique and peculiar tipology, by the faction for independence which quickly came off worst in the clash for power. Insignificant was the output of the mint because of the very short lapse of time during which this party seemed to have the better in the city. Eventually, considering the political meaning of the coins, these types were promptly withdrawn from circulation. Immediately following this issue is that in the name of Roma struck in the Neapolitan mint by the pro-Roma party, i.e. Cr. 1/1, Cr. 2/1 and Cr. 13/1, which we date 340 BC

ILLUSTRAZIONE:KAKASBOS, divinità microasiatica, forse ctonia, dei cavalieri (Drexler) nota solamente da fonti monumentali, rilievi e monete che, recando epigrafi, ne hanno permesso l'identificazione.Il dio vi è rappresentato in atto di cavalcare, in genere verso destra; indossa una corta tunica a pieghe e una corazza di tipo non classico resa con tale schematismo da apparire come un mantelletto. Un rigonfiamento anulare sopra le caviglie indica l'orlo superiore di calzature alte. Il cavaliere regge con la sinistra le redini della sua cavalcatura, mentre con la destra sollevata impugna una mazza o una clava. I rilievi finora noti, privi di dati sicuri circa la loro provenienza, sono molto rozzi e denunciano oltre la loro tarda età l'ambiente provinciale nel quale sono stati realizzati. La medesima divinità, da identificare forse con Sozon, altro dio dei cavalieri appartenente al pantheon preellenico, è raffigurato, su monete autonome e di età imperiale, da Choma, Isinda e Cyaneae, e secondo il Drexler su una gemma gnostica che si conserva al museo di Cassel (Treccani.it) .

 

Kakasbos (in Ancient Greek Κακασβος, but discovered only under the dative declination Κακασβω) is an ancient Anatolian deity. Linked to Herakles at latest at the beginning of the Roman Imperial Era, he has been venerated exclusively in Southern Asia Minor, more precisely in Lycia and Pisidia. As a club-bearing horse rider god, Kakasbos seems to be related to protection against wild dangers, but this hypothesis is still discussed among historians (Wikipedia)

Di incerta zecca della Cilicia, apparentemente " unique and unpublished " , un interessante statere ( 450-400 AC. , 10,76 g. , 21 mm. ) con al diritto scena di combattimento forse tra Eracle ed una amazzone elmata .

Di rito, ormai, le scuse se la moneta già è stata  inserita tra le quasi 100 pagine precedenti .

Kakasbos era venerato in Lycia, Pisidia e Frigia. Secondo alcuni è stato identificato anche come controfigura di Eracle.

C'è molta approssimazione nel descrivere alcune monete d'Asia minore. Nessun rilievo lo mostra con una bipenne, soltanto sempre con una mazza. Quello che appare sulla moneta di Lydia non è lui, ma chissà chi. Anche la definizione di dio dei cavalieri è inventata. 

Kakasbos era un dio contadino, protettore dai pericoli del lavoro nei campi. Le sue raffigurazioni sui bassorilievi sono infantili.

This group of coins is mostly comprised of diverse varieties of bronze issues from the beginning to the end of the Ptolemaic kingdom. The classification of many Ptolemaic bronze issues has been highly debated among numismatists, often with researchers publishing highly divergent attributions to various kings, and also in the naming of the denominations used. For this selection, we generally followed the attributions and denominations given on Dan Wolf’s website, www.ptolemybronze.com, who has been closely working with noted numismatic scholar, Catharine Lorber. ex BCD Collection (CNG E290, 7 November 2012), lot 56.The Oitaians were a tribal people of Northern Greece named for their proximity to Mount Oita. This mountain was famous in Greek myth as the place where Herakles was burned by a poisonous shirt given to him by his wife. The poison destroyed his physical body but permitted him to achieve immortality and ascend to the gods. For this reason, the principal city of the Oitaians was named Herakleia (Trachinia) and the hero held a prominent place on their coins.

The reverse shows the province of Dacia at peace, after Trajan’s two campaigns, in 102 and 106 AD, to subdue the Dacian king Decembalus. The war-like Dacians were dispersed, and a new population of farmers and herdsmen took their place. The rock formation that Dacia and the children sit upon, with its twin peaks, may represent the Iron Gate, the formidable mountainous pass leading into Dacia.
