Dramme ‘consorelle’ di Mileto del Grande

Rovescio della consorella del post precedente molto simile a quello della ‘cugina’ con la stella sotto il trono (Price 2089) battuta alla CNG 109.

Head of Herakles right, wearing lion skin / Zeus Aëtophoros seated left; monogram in left field, star below throne. Price 2089; ADM I Series I. Choice EF, lustrous. Well centered and struck.

Se non fosse per le dimensioni del tondello, sarebbe assai difficile distinguere le due dramme 'cugine'.

Consorella battuta alla Nomos 11.

KINGS of MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Drachm (Silver, 17mm, 4.30 g 1), Miletos, c. 325-323. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion’s skin headdress. Rev. ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ Zeus seated on backless throne to left, holding eagle in his right hand and scepter in his left; to left, monogram of ΔΗ. Price 2090. A superb, darkly toned and beautifully struck example. Virtually as struck.
