Baka Inviato 4 Marzo, 2018 #1 Inviato 4 Marzo, 2018 https://www.ebay.de/itm/Roman-Silver-Denarius-Manlia-Scantilla-193-AD/192469517495?hash=item2cd013c4b7:g:DXQAAOSw9j9amUbh The style does look odd and reminds me on Cagoi but there is no picture in Brunetti´s book showing the fake Manlia Scantilla denarius of Cigoi. Other opinions are appreciated and welcome. With best regards, Cita
Massenzio Inviato 4 Marzo, 2018 #2 Inviato 4 Marzo, 2018 A bad fake. in addition check his sales. He sells many fakes of poor quality easily recognizable. Cita
Baka Inviato 4 Marzo, 2018 Autore #3 Inviato 4 Marzo, 2018 I have bought from him a Nero denarius in past ( I wanted to it have because it was obverse die match to the Cigoi Nero in Brunetti´s book ). I do think that at least some of his fakes are old fakes and if Manlia Scantilla is Cigoi too then I have to have it for my fake collection. Cita
acraf Inviato 4 Marzo, 2018 #4 Inviato 4 Marzo, 2018 It is opportune to show the fake denarius: No Cigoi's forgeries are known for Manlia Scantilla, but many and different fake denarii are known at his name. Cita
Baka Inviato 5 Marzo, 2018 Autore #5 Inviato 5 Marzo, 2018 (modificato) In Brunetti´s book are 3 Manlia Scantilla forgeries mentioned by Cigoi but no pictures of them The style, absence of metal flow and flow lines, the planchet, no edge crack reminds me on my Nero and this Cigo Brutus. Only 1 Cigoi die survived so attribution to Cigoi mainly due to style. Found another Cigoi Plotina http://www.numismatikforum.de/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=51045 Modificato 5 Marzo, 2018 da Baka 1 Cita
