La produzione monetale arcaica e classica dell'Asia Minore è vastissima e non è raro imbattersi in monete di incerta attribuzione. Tuttavia quella in vendita nella prossima Leu Numismatik web auction 20, lotto 1316, è davvero unica nel suo genere: https://leunumismatik.com/en/lot/33/1316

Tralasciando il fatto che questa moneta proveniva da una precedente e recente vendita della stessa Leu (in realtà questo è un fatto comune a molte altre monete di quest'asta), nella descrizione viene citata l'esistenza di una moneta apparentemente simile esitata da Roma Numismatics, che allego di seguito: https://www.acsearch.info/search.html?id=5108866

Uncertain mint (possibly Tarentum?) AR Tritetartemorion. 5th-4th century BC. Six pointed star with pellets on each arm / Large T with three pellets around. Apparently unpublished, for coins of a similar type cf. Gitbud & Naumann 18, lot 18; cf. Gitbud & Naumann 5, lot 13; cf. Gitbud & Naumann 4, lot 7. 0.64g, 9mm.
Very Fine. Rare and apparently unpublished.
This type bears a reverse of striking similarity to the rare issues of triantes from Tarentum, which bear a shell on the obverse (cf. Vlasto 1195-6; HN Italy 852) or, echoing the reverse, a large T with three pellets around (cf. Vlasto 1189-92; HN Italy 853).

 

Il compilatore del catalogo di RN proponeva come possibile attribuzione "Tarentum", suppondo per la presenza della "T". Citava, inoltre, tre esemplari esitati anni prima da Gitbud&Naumann (uno dei quali è la moneta di inizio discussione, ora in vendita da LEU), anch'essi di seguito allegati, il cui stile si riavvicina all'esemplare di inizio discussione:

In conclusione questa tipologia compare per la prima volta nel 2013 da Gitbud&Nauman, per un totale di 4 esemplari. Lo stile è sicuramente unico. RN proponeva l'attribuzione a Tarentum, mentre LEU proporrebbe l'Asia Minore. GN, invece, non si era espressa. Cosa ne pensate?

difficile sapere cosa pensare, potrebbe anche essere una moneta celtica, ma western asia minor non lo condivido, già dagli albori erano col rovescio in incuso

Mai vista. La T sembra uno spaventapasseri. E se fosse l'iniziale di tritetartemorion, dato che si trova anche (unico o in triplicato) su altre monete di questo valore?

@Oppiano grazie per il riscontro, direi, determinante. Il dritto presenta, comunque, caratteri unici rispetto agli esemplari noti. Ho ancora qualche perplessità sul peso, ma non sono un esperto di monetazione del sud Italia: è compatibile con il sistema ponderale di Taranto? @numa numa @Emilio Siculo @skubydu @Brennos2 @gionnysicily cosa ne pensate?

Eccone un'altra dalla prossima N&N 118. Non ne avevo mai viste prima, poi sembrano arrivare tutte insieme. 

Lotto 36. CALABRIA. Tarentum. Trias (Circa 450-380 BC).

Obv: Large T; three pellets around; Δ to upper right.
Rev: Large T; three pellets around; K to right.
