After 229 BC. FILWTAS, cow standing right, looking back at calf which is suckles / DUR KLEANOROS, square containing double stellate pattern.

Your piece is relatively rare. This is the first specimen of this particular name combination which I saw out of museum collections. Keep it with pride! eg1979 Posted December 19, 2007 Author Share #7 Posted December 19, 2007 Per completezza vi allego gli ultimi risultati delle mie ricerche. As you probably know, this coin belongs to Illyrian emissions of Epidamnos or Dyrrachion (or latin Dyrrachium). This type is not very common at the market, and it could be considered as quite rare variant of otherwise frequent series. The coin description is as follows: Av: Inscription is STEFANOS (STEFANOS) in one line, below cow standing to right feeding calf below, which is turned to left. On this coin the visible part of the inscription is: STEFAN(OS). Rv: DIR DEINO-KLE-OS (DIR DEINOKLEOS) written in three sides of a square within which is double stellate pattern. On this coin the visible part of the inscription is: (DIR D)EINO-KLE-OS . References that list this coin are: A. Maier, Die Silberprägung von Apollonia und Dyrrhachion N. Z. 12 Wien 1908, (Number: 196). H. Ceka, Probleme te Numismatikes Ilire, Tirana 1962, (Number 364, page 149). H. Ceka, Questions de numismatique illyrienne, Tirana, 1972, (Number 379, page 197).
