1965 Churchill 5-shilling, varietà minore

Ho finalmente avuto abbastanza corone di Churchill nella mia casella duplicata per vedere, per me, la varietà "R" che ho sempre letto su. Il "apertura" della R è più stretto e più poligonali su quello a sinistra, e più ampia e squadrata sull'altro a destra.

Una varietà minore, minore, su una moneta molto comune. Ma mi piace corona 1965 della Gran Bretagna—anche se il suo design è stato badmouthed un sacco. Ci sono infinite storie da raccontare su suo soggetto, e con questa scusa molto piccola di mantenere un'altra Churchill corona nella mia collezione, ora posso fare spazio per una storia di più nel mio notebook!

I finally had enough Churchill crowns in my duplicate box to see for myself the “R” variety I’ve always read about. The “opening” of the R is narrower and more polygonal on the one at left, and wider and squarer on the other at right.

A minor, minor variety, on a very common coin. But I like Britain’s 1965 crown—even though its design has been badmouthed plenty. There are endless stories to tell about its subject, and with this tiny excuse to keep another Churchill crown in my collection, now I can make room for one more story in my notebook!

Di queste monete non esiste la versione in argento vero? Peccato, perchè il grande statista probabilmente avrebbe meritato di essere ricordato su una moneta in metallo prezioso.....
