Infastidito? Assolutamente no. Inglese americano è più o meno un totale libero-per-tutti. Inoltre, sul Forum, tutti la maggior parte di noi sono solo cercando di parlare "moneta.” Quindi per favore non lasciare che ti preoccupassi.

Ma in generale... no, nessun facile acquisto e importazione di monete cubane negli Stati Uniti ancora—e forse non per molto tempo. Ciò che è accaduto è un importante cambiamento di direzione e un'apertura, ma la destinazione è ancora considerevole distanza. (Il Presidente può fare soltanto così tanto—e il Congresso deve fare il resto.)

 

E la politica di annullamento formalmente l'embargo è dura.

But generally…no, no easy buying and importing Cuban coins into the U.S. yet—and maybe not for a long time. What has happened is an important change of direction, and an opening, but the destination is still some considerable distance away. (The President can do only so much—and the Congress must do the rest.)

 

And the politics of formally undoing the embargo are tough.

 

There is a large reservoir of Cubans and Cuban-Americans dispossessed and forced into exile by the revolution, many of them living in Florida—a state often pivotal in recent American presidential elections—and 2016 is a presidential election year.

 

So the opening to Cuba is on balance a popular move, but the two American political parties will have to dance very carefully around the issue until after the next presidential election at least, and perhaps some several years after that.

 

I’ll open a new thread so the 1-centavo type succession doesn’t get lost, but first let me thank everyone for posting their Cuban coins. I did get to see some coins I had not seen before. The copper Che commemorative—and the bank notes with Che’s signature—were especially fun to see.
