Dramma imitazione celtica di monete di Alessandro e di Lisimaco

CELTIC, Eastern Europe. Imitations of Alexander III of Macedon & Lysimachos of Thrace. AR Drachm (12mm, 3.83 g, 9h). Stylized head of Athena right, wearing crested helmet decorated with a serpent / Stylized Athena seated left, resting arm on shield. OTA 596; Lanz -; CCCBM -; KMW 1493-4. Good VF, toned. Rare.

The obverse of this type is imitating the staters of Alexander III, while the reverse is imitating the coinage of Lysimachos.

Nonostante le monete di questo tipo siano comuni e ritenute prodotte dai Galli che invasero la Tracia dopo la morte di Lisimaco, nessun riferimento bibliografico delle monete celtiche standard le include.

Diademed head of the deified Alexander right, with horn of Ammon / Athena Nikephoros seated left, left arm resting on shield, spear in background; uncertain control (Є?) to inner left, BY on throne, ornate trident in exergue. Apparently unpublished. Good VF, two die cracks on the reverse, light scratches.
